What are 21st century skills?

We also know that in the new century, knowing something is no longer an advantage. In this age of continuous and rapid change, it is already being recognized by reputable institutions that the factors that will prevail are more skills than theoretical knowledge. With this in mind, we develop students' skills, especially the so-called '21st Century Skills', and prepare them for future competition.  

What are 21st century skills?

These skills are described by the World Economic Forum in 3 categories: 

Basic literacy 
Competences 
Personal qualities

Basic literacy reflects how students will apply basic skills in their daily activities. These skills allow students to develop more advanced and important competencies and personal qualities by playing a basic role. These skills include not only reading and arithmetic, but also scientific literacy, ICT literacy, financial literacy, cultural and civic literacy. Traditional education focuses primarily on the acquisition of these skills, but these skills are now considered the basis for the development of 21st century skills.  

Competencies explain how students approach the complex challenges they face. For example, critical thinking is the ability to clarify, analyze, and evaluate situations, ideas, and information to solve problems. Creativity is the ability to imagine and find innovative ways to approach problems, answer questions, or use knowledge in different ways. Communicates and collaborates, transmits information, and collaborates with others to solve problems. These competencies are considered very important for the 21st century workforce. Thus, critical analysis, knowledge transfer and teamwork will become the standard for the future workforce.

Personal qualities reflect how students respond to a changing environment. Personal qualities such as perseverance, adaptability, flexibility and success in the face of obstacles in a rapidly changing market environment.  Interest and initiative serve as a starting point for the discovery of new concepts and ideas. Leadership and socio-cultural awareness include building social, ethical and cultural communication with others in a constructive way.  These skills are key to people's lifelong success in the 21st century. Our goal is to instill these skills in children from school years and give them the knowledge and skills to help them become successful individuals.
