Overview

Curriculum Overview:

Cambridge curriculum is not just about preparation for exams. It is about a broad and balanced curriculum, and the social, intellectual and emotional needs of our pupils drive our educational agenda. A happy child is a successful one.

The academic programme is rigorous and challenging, with pupils thriving in an atmosphere where they are encouraged to take risks and discover for themselves, an environment where they are happy and where each pupil’s individual needs are recognised and provided for. Our aim is to give pupils the confidence, skills and knowledge to fulfil their potential academically, and to encourage them to work independently and collaboratively.

At our school we intend to deliver a balanced and broad based curriculum:

Broad: A wide range of subjects to be delivered to the students for as long as possible so that they can develop the skills and knowledge that will equip them not only for academic success but the world of work.

Balanced: Time is afforded to the students to contribute to the learning, to develop skills and deepen knowledge. Opportunities to explore the subject and the topics deeper. It doesn’t matter what the subject is, Art, History or Science, a broad curriculum presents an opportunity for students to discover new facts and concepts, find inspiration and excitement.

Our highly qualified and enthusiastic teaching staff know their pupils’ strengths and weaknesses and support them to develop and grow in their particular areas of expertise. Relationships between pupils and their teachers are excellent and this nurtures mutual trust and respect.

Pupils follow a broad programme in the initial years and start to specialise as they enter IGCSE years and then again in the Sixth Form.
